SAGE offers an elevated dining experience in the beautiful mountain surroundings of Western
North Carolina. We are a scratch kitchen with much of our product being farm to table.


It has been just a few weeks since our grand opening and we already need to add more talented
people to our growing team.

Now seeking: Servers, Hosts, Dishwashers, and Cooks.

  • Full time and Part time options available
  • Competitive pay based on experience, starting at $12 per hour

General Qualifications

SERVER

Fine dining server provides hospitality services, primarily serving food and drinks but also contributing to the experience of the diners.  Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming guests and taking their food/drink orders
  • Collaborating with the kitchen for prompt and correct delivery of orders
  • In depth knowledge of the menu to answer questions and make recommendations
  • In depth knowledge of the wine selection to answer questions and make recommendations
  • Delivering a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly
  • Setting tables and rearranging the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare the restaurant for special events

Server skills and qualifications include:

  • Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for delivering a dining experience that exceeds guest’s expectations
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Bright and cheerful attitude
  • Experience in fine dining desired
  • Knowledge of wine pairings or wine service is preferred

HOST

The host provides an amazing first impression for guests by making phone calls to confirm reservations and by greeting guests when they arrive at the restaurant. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Taking and confirming reservations
  • Ensuring the dining room is ready for service
  • Preparing reserved tables before the guests arrive
  • Welcoming guests and showing them to their table
  • Setting tables and rearranging the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare the restaurant for special events

Server skills and qualifications include:

  • A passion for delivering a dining experience that exceeds guest’s expectations
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Bright and cheerful attitude
  • Experience in fine dining desired

DISHWASHER
Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishes to ensure that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean
plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans and glasses. Duties include:

  • Prioritizing loads of different types of items
  • Hand-washing dishes as necessary
  • Loading the dish machine
  • Storing dry dishes in their proper location.
  • Taking garbage to dumpster area
  • Cleaning work area walls and floors
  • Setting up, cleaning, maintaining and shutting down the dish machine

Skills and qualifications include:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds several times a day
  • Ability to place cases, pans, utensils and plates on both low and high shelves
  • Ability to work in hot and damp environments
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations to avoid endangering themselves or others

PREP COOK
Prep Cook performs various food preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains
efficient in creating and delivering dishes for the guests. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list provided by the Head Chef or kitchen manager
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
  • Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats
  • Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
  • Parboiling food, reducing sauces and starting first steps in various dishes
  • Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
  • Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to
  • order resupply

Prep Cook skills and qualifications include:

  • Passion for food, beverage and hospitality
  • Strong knife skills and cutting techniques
  • Keen understanding of industry-standard best cooking and preparation practices
  • Familiarity with safe and sanitary food handling and preparation
  • Certified in proper food handling, typically through a ServSafe Certification
  • Good math skills with a clear understanding of cooking measurements
  • Strong sense of smell and taste
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking skills
  • Great collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Line Cook
Line cooks are responsible for the prep and execution of daily service. Duties
and responsibilities include:

  • Passion for food, beverage and hospitality
  • Preparing food to meet the specifications, in a timely manner
  • Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
  • Adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and
  • sanitation requirements
  • Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation and execution
  • Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
  • Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
  • Other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef

Line Cook skills and qualifications include:

  • Exceptional cooking skills and service execution
  • Familiarity with the best practices in the hospitality industry
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Minimum 3 years professional culinary experience
